What We Do
Leader Valley is an effort to make the Cedar Valley a better place for students to excel and become well prepared for citizenship and their future careers. We feel this is achieved through high levels of community collaboration. Through Leader Valley, strong partnerships amongst Cedar Valley businesses, school district administrators and school boards, parents, and the community are being built.
Leader in Me
Leader in Me is a talent development initiative sponsored by Leader Valley. Leader in Me provides the foundation to expand the reach of leadership to all students. From a reduction in discipline problems to an increase in student responsibility, self-confidence, engagement in school, and school attendance, Leader in Me is making its mark across the Cedar Valley. Leader In Me is not a program, but rather an initiative that shifts the culture of a school.
Leader in Me has four principle focuses:
– Developing essential soft skills in all students
– Identifying and nurturing the gifts and talents of all students
– Providing authentic learning and leadership opportunities for all students
– Applying the 7 Habits of Highly Effective People

Testimonials
“I have taught in my building for over 25 years. The impact the Leader in Me way of life has made in just one year is phenomenal. We have become a family community where students and staff work together. Student achievement has improved as evidenced in our spring test results and students seek opportunities for leadership. Many students who have never viewed themselves as leaders have embraced building and classroom leadership roles and experience success and pride in their contributions. Even the aesthetics of the building have transformed our school from having an institutional look to one that celebrates student work and success. Several visitors who came into our school this past year have commented on the positive “feel” and evidence of student leadership impact.”
