Leader Valley is…

Leader Valley is a talent development initiative of the Greater Cedar Valley Alliance & Chamber. Implementing in three communities — Waterloo, Cedar Falls, and Waverly, Iowa, Leader Valley is preparing Pre-K-12 students for life by providing them with the essential soft skills needed for a life of effectiveness and a competitive advantage in the workforce.

To accomplish this, Leader Valley champions the belief that ALL students in the Cedar Valley deserve authentic learning and leadership opportunities in a rich leadership school culture. The first priority of Leader Valley is the implementation of Leader in Me in Cedar Valley schools.

What Makes Leader Valley

Leader Valley started with an act of vision: A vision of expanding the reach of leadership to all students in the Cedar Valley. Our mission is to provide Pre-K-12 students with the essential soft skills needed for a life of effectiveness and a competitive advantage in the workforce. To accomplish this, Leader Valley has been working to implement Leader in Me in Cedar Valley schools.

Becoming a leader should not be an opportunity for just some students, but for ALL students. All of our Leader Valley Leader in Me schools embed the 7 Habits of Highly Effective People, identify the gifts and talents of all students, and provide authentic and meaningful leadership roles and opportunities to learn about leadership.

We believe in every child there is greatness!

. . . True greatness is measured not by comparisons, but by identifying and nurturing the gifts and talents of all children

. . . Greatness is not determined merely by character, but also by one’s competence

. . . Greatness is wherever someone is looking to find it

We believe every child should be given the tools to be effective!

. . . Universal principles like integrity, strong work ethic, initiative, compassion, respect, and collaboration are the foundations of effectiveness and are not only for a select few

. . . When children are given the tools to be effective, they become empowered as a learner and leader

We believe teaching these principles to our students is a moral imperative!

. . .  Leadership development and effectiveness should not be left to chance

. . .When we invest in the future of our children, we are investing in the future of our Greater Cedar Valley community
